Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Tech Lead to be the primary technical architect and implementer for our cutting-edge digital products. Bridging Berlin Bytes' engineering prowess with Kambria's human-centric AI transformation insights you will drive the entire software development lifecycle, from deeply understanding client needs and defining technical strategies, to hands-on coding and guiding solutions through rapid prototyping and market validation. You'll lead by doing: taking end-to-end technical ownership with significant autonomy, writing code, solving complex challenges, and guiding a small, agile team.
Key Responsibilities
- Hands-on Building: Lead the technical design and contribute significant direct code to cutting-edge, user-centric digital solutions and enterprise applications.
- End-to-End Technical Ownership: Take full responsibility for technical decisions, system architecture, and implementation quality.
- Client Collaboration & Technical Strategy: Work directly with clients to understand their needs, define technical requirements, and present solution approaches.
- Small Team Enablement: Direct a small, agile team (2-3 engineers) focused on rapid prototyping and market validation of new product concepts.
- Engineering Excellence & Code Quality: Lead by example in contributing high-quality, maintainable code.
- Pragmatic Technology Exploration: Continuously research, evaluate, and prototype with emerging technologies, including advancements in AI.
- Collaborative Technical Environment: Actively share deep technical knowledge and contribute to solution discussions.
- Process & Tooling Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to our development workflows, tools, and processes.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Technical Autonomy & Problem Solving: Proven ability to take full technical ownership of projects, independently identify and solve complex engineering challenges.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Proven experience leading, mentoring, or guiding software engineers.
- Programming Mastery: Deep expertise in at least one widely-adopted backend language (e.g., TypeScript, Golang, Python, Rust, C#, Java) and real-world experience with modern JavaScript/TypeScript frontend frameworks (React, Svelte, Angular, Vue).
- Backend & Data Architecture: Strong history of building high-performance, scalable APIs and proficiency in data modeling for both relational and NoSQL databases.
- Infrastructure & Security: Hands-on experience with Docker, the container orchestration ecosystem (Kubernetes, Helm), and a strong understanding of modern authentication systems and security practices (e.g., OIDC).
- Client-Facing Communication: Ability to effectively explain and present complex technical concepts to cross-functional teams and clients.
- Languages: Fluency in both German and English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Mobile: Experience in mobile app development (Flutter, Kotlin, Swift).
- Cloud & DevOps: Hands-on experience with major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP), building robust CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CDK).
- AI/ML Integration: Direct experience working with AI/ML frameworks or successfully integrating AI services/APIs into production applications.
